About Volunteering

Volunteering is the activity or service carried out by free will and initiative by any person which offers his/her time, knowledge, talent and energy to others, without any financial reward other than reimbursement of incidental expenses occurred while performing the volunteering activities, as part of a designated project. The volunteering movement in Romania is supported by:

  • individuals who wish to volunteer
  • volunteer-involving NGOs
  • volunteer-involving public institutions
  • volunteer centers (united into the National Network of Volunteer Centers in Romania)
  • international exchanges of volunteers (Peace Corps, European Voluntary Service etc.)
  • branches of international organziations active in the field of volunteerism

  • National Conference on Volunteering
  • National Volunteer Week
  • Awards Gala for Community Involvement
  • International Volunteer Day (December 5th)
  • Other events dedicated to promoting volunteerism, recognizing volunteers etc.
