Involving Transivania's county officials in developing volunteering
Pro Vobis National Volunteer
Center launches the project "Involving Transivania's
county officials in developing volunteering"
with the purpose of co-operating with local
and county authorities from: Alba, Arad,
Bihor, Bistrita-Nasaud, Brasov, Cluj, Covasna,
Harghita, Hunedoara, Maramures, Mures, Satu
Mare, Salaj, Sibiu to recognize, promote
and support volunteering as a valuable,
important and irreplaceable resource in
finding the solutions for the problems that
concerns Romanian society.
"Volunteering strengthens the social cohesion,
increases the degree of social implication,
stimulates active citizenry, increases the
quality and quantity of services and helps
developing individual abilities… " (extract
from the European ….: Volunteering and Participating
in European Union, Maastricht, 2004).
We believe that volunteering represents
a fundamental component of our society and
we see in county officials and local ones
the main actor in coordinating activities
regarding volunteering, the binding between
the existent needs in communities and the
eager persons that want to get involved.
The project is realized with the financial
support of: The Balkan Trust for Democracy
and CS Mott Foundation. It will be sustained
for 12 months and wants to achieve: promoting
volunteering in the counties that cover
the area of already traditional projects
(National Volunteer Week- 8-14 may, Volunteering
International Day- 5 December), creating
an environment that will help develop volunteering
as an important way to imply citizens in
solving their local problems, solidify the
collaboration between public authorities
and non profit milieu trough their contribution
to identifying local needs and implying
volunteers in solving them.
