Promoting the concept and practice of volunteering in Romania
Promoting the concept and practice of volunteering
in Romania has been and is one of the core
roles of the Pro Vobis National Volunteer
Center and the constant objective of our
activities and programs. The activities
of promoting volunteering are a fundamental
component of all the programs/projects initiated
by Pro Vobis. However, our organisation
has also developed a special line of programs
intended to promote the concept and practice
of volunteering in Romania, aimed
at supporting all those who are interested
in volunteering by making available the
knowledge and resources gathered and accessed
by Pro Vobis in its nearly 10 years of activity
in the field of volunteering.
Apart from our regular, ongoing programs,
described in this section, within the larger
frame of promoting the concept and practice
of volunteering in Romania, Pro Vobis is
also undertaking the following activities:
- Informing the public about volunteering
in Romania (organisations that
involve volunteers in their activities,
types of activities in which volunteers
can get involved, volunteering-programs
ideas);
- Informing the public about volunteering-related
events taking place in Romania
and around the world;
- Presentations on volunteering
(at conferences, seminars, events or,
as per request, for those interested in
the topic);
- Promoting volunteering opportunities
- national or international (as per request);
- Promoting policies that favour
volunteering by initiating or
supporting initiatives, papers, campaigns;
- Drafting volunteerism related
publications.
A future direction that Pro Vobis is considering
in the development and promotion of the
concept and practice of volunteering in
Romania is to set up a research
department, in order to study the
different aspects of the Romanian volunteering
movement. Its aim would be generating data
which could support the added-value of volunteering
for the organisations/institutions that
involve volunteers in their activities,
in order to be able to offer a documentary
basis for the development of volunteering
and for gathering as much support as possible
for the volunteer movement in Romania. |
