Mission:

Pro Vobis National Volunteer Center exists to promote and develop volunteerism as a viable and irreplaceable resource in solving the problems the Romanian society is now facing.

Values and principles:

Pro Vobis National Volunteer Center, through its members, volunteers and employees *respects and militates for equal rights for all people without discrimination, *promotes active involvement in community life and *believes in the unlimited ability of each community member to participate in solving the community problems.

All Pro Vobis initiatives are guided by core principles such as *nondiscrimination, *fair treatment, *transparency, *efficiency, *professionalism, *lifelong learning, *focusing on the needs and interests of the clients and beneficiaries, *respect for the laws and *social responsibility.

Vision:

Our vision is that of a Romanian society in which each and every person contributes voluntarily to the development of the community one lives in either by offering one’s time, knowledge, energy, skills, talents or experience or by supporting financially the voluntary initiatives within the community. We dream of a society where the volunteer involvement for the community benefit represents a valued and accepted part of one’s life, in harmony with other engagements to family, education, work and recreation.

Pro Vobis works towards:

* becoming the reference point in the field of volunteering for all interested actors: volunteer centers, organisations working with volunteers, authorities and public institutions, companies and citizens;

* making volunteering known and correctly understood, accepted and recognized as an alternative way of solving the problems of a community;

* offering consultancy, training, networking facilitation services, developing research projects and advocacy activities, and implementing new programs at national and international level;

* becoming a strong organization with regard to its structure, internal management policies and sustainability, offering a pleasant working environment which allows room for personal development, and having professional, dynamic and devoted personnel.

Brief history:

Pro Vobis was established in 1992 as a social services organization. Following the experience and expertise acquired in effectively managing the volunteers, pro Vobis decided to establish the first Volunteer Center in the country as a department of the organization in 1997. The unexpected demand for services and know how in the field of volunteer management urged Pro Vobis to change the mission accordingly and become the first independent and professional Volunteer Center in Romania, contributing substantially to promoting and developing the concept of volunteer center. At its 5th anniversary, in 2002, the organization became The National Volunteer Center Pro Vobis.
